Whether you're a hiker, mountain climber, tourist, nature lover, history buff or someone who loves to explore the great outdoors in Nevada, you've seen plenty of spectacular vistas, intriguing rock formations, ancient dwellings and mystical petroglyphs in your travels within our state.  Surrounded by such beauty, it's easy to see why these places are often worthy of protection.  However, more and more prehistoric and historic cultural places are being damaged by graffiti, bullet holes, burning and other forms of vandalism.  How can we protect these places and restore them to their natural beauty? 

Join Rayette Martin, MA, public archaeologist and executive director of Nevadans For Cultural Preservation at the Clark County Library where she will talk about the devastating problem of vandalism on our public lands and why it's necessary to preserve and protect our cultural heritage.  Rayette will explain the challenging techniques of graffiti removal from sensitive cultural sites like ancient rock writings, where and how to report vandalism, what documentation and restoration efforts are happening now in Nevada, and how to become more involved in preserving Nevada's natural and cultural resources for this and future generations to enjoy, be inspired by, and to learn from.
