AN AFTERNOON WITH A MUSEUM CONSERVATOR
From showgirl costumes to silver, museum conservators have a responsibility to preserve the objects that come to their museums. This workshop demonstrates how the conservator for the Nevada State Museum Las Vegas, Caroline Kunioka, processes each of these materials as they arrive. Learn her thought processes, as she determines whether recent acquisitions need to be cleaned or frozen or require other special care.
BRING YOUR OWN SILVER: Learn how to clean silver the Downton Abbey way, and why museums still do it the old-fashioned way.
Caroline Kunioka holds a BS in Art Conservation from the Winterthur/University of Delaware program in Art Conservation.
