How to Make Local Clay

There are natural clay sources in Southern Nevada. We will show you what the clay looks like when gathered, how it is processed, what is added to it and more. 

Practice Making Ceramic Vessel

Try your hands at constructing a ceramic pot or other vessel. All materials provided. This is a dirty process. We suggest no jewelry and to wear some comfortable shoes and clothing. 

The second workshop on ceramics will be held at the Lost City Museum at a later date. While at the museum we will see a variety of ceramics and learn how conservators refit the pieces together. Participants will also be able to test the techniques we learn on modern ceramics.
