Basin and Range National Monument BioBlitz

NVFCP is providing cultural preservation information. This event is hosted by the Bureau of Land Management. This year's citizen science BioBlitz will consist of groups of volunteers, scientists, and BLM staff working together to locate and identify as many species during the event. We are also celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Basin & Range National Monument, so it is a special moment for all of the dedicated public lands stewards to this gem of a place in Nevada.

Each BioBlitz group will be made up of a group leader and a combination of volunteers. Groups will be approximately 5-15 members each. Focus areas of the groups include: plants, reptiles, bats, small mammals, and birds.

The 2025 event is focused in the southern portion of the monument around Mt. Irish. Maps are available of the recommended route to the event (approx. 8 miles west of Highway 318 near Hiko, NV), and group camping areas. Please be aware that we ask everyone to camp in the primitive campground and not to the east so as to not impact any cultural sites. We strongly encourage folks to cozy up in the five primitive camp sites so we can maximize use of those. Camp spots are identified in green on the map.
We will meet at the vault toilet at the Mt. Irish camp area on Saturday, June 7th at 9 am.
Please review the documents listed below carefully and take special note of safety information and remote nature of the area.
