BioBlitz-Desert National Wildlife Refuge

Archaeologists from NVFCP have been invited to host an activity/informational table outdoors for a citizen science BioBlitz around the Corn Creek Visitor's Center.

Why archaeology at a BioBlitz?

While biologists, ecologists, geologists, etc. are out conducting their studies and recording their observations, they often come across artifacts and other evidence of past human activity.

Biologists learn from archaeologists and vice versa. We hope to educate participating citizen scientists how to recognize cultural sites so they can be careful not to disturb them and so they can report any impacts, like looting, that they may find.

Our booth will be hosted on Saturday.

All guided walks require advanced sign-up and are capped at 10 people or 6 family units. Interested parties should call the number on the flier or the Corn Creek Visitor Center 1-702-879-6110 to register.
